In 1998, Mrs. Joan Kroc, widow of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, donated $90 million to The Salvation Army to build a comprehensive community center in San Diego, California. Her goal was to create a center, supported in part by the community, where children and families would be exposed to different people, activities and arts that would otherwise be beyond their reach.

Ambler Area Y Highlighted for Unique New Facility Design

In a recent publication by Recreation and Management in the May 2011 Issue the Ambler Area YMCA was highlighted as one of the most unique facility structures in the country. Opened in November 2010 the 80,000 square foot Y is now serving over 14,000 members. In the recent re-branding of the YMCA the Ambler Area Y is a leader in what will be to come for future facilities.
